did you discover chords that were a suprise,,or gave you some thrills?
I know what you what you mean Willem.
Everytime I work on a Billy Joel song, it becomes an exercise in chord construction. I worked this morning on Joel's "And So It Goes", and by the time I settled on the main riff, it is a treatment of the C chord similar to Fur Elise followed by a F6add9 and a G6 on the top strings. It sounds interesting and quite unusual, but every time I work on BillyJoel songs, unusual stuff happens for me. It could be interesting stuff, but more likely, I'm just not good enough to be trying Billy Joel's music.

Of course its the combination of chords that brings you to the thrill or something,,I was for fun trying Lionel Richie's song ''Hello'' and found that Fmaj7 very special sounding,But I think also its something with the vocal harmony,,,,Am /G6 /Fmaj7 /G6-Fmaj7 etc for the verse..can't find my vocal/voice for this song yet,,
That E7 was in a bleus tune...very full sound..

I find chords from time to time that really do just sound perfect... Fmaj7 has been one of my favorites for a while. If you take that same shape and slide it up two frets, it becomes a G6, and it also sounds very nice. There is a great old Firefall song that uses those, along with C, G , Am and Em. It is called "Just Remember I Love You", and I have always liked that song. Firefall used the Fmaj7 and the G6 combo in a lot of their songs..
