Jeff:
I am not surprised at all! I was not alone in being amazed at the number of songs you could play through by memory or feel. Very talented. That was awesome, and I imagine that your wife was pretty darn proud sitting out in the crowd. Excellent job!

Wow, that was quite stunning Jeff, way to go! I really enjoyed the Buffet number, having been to Key West, I know its exactly the vibe of the place. What a cool experience!
Hey everyone, thanks so much for all the great comments!
The only song I knew going in was “Pirate”, but all of the others Scott chose were standard blues-type songs, so once he called out the key, it was just a matter of listening for the changes, following along, and throwing in fills that would work (a lot of the tools from Neil’s “Lead Secrets - Triads” lesson came in handy here). Meanwhile, Scott was really doing all of the heavy lifting. For him to accommodate a stranger to that degree shows what a class act the guy is.
A couple of interesting side notes:
- Some of the folks there that night were convinced I was a visiting exec from Fender. Apparently they had Googled my name and found that there is a Fender exec by the same name (and I was playing a Fender acoustic). We even ran into some people elsewhere the next night who asked if I was that “guy from Fender” who was playing at the Tuna. Guess I should’ve played along with that, at least for a bit.
- Can’t confirm it myself, but supposedly former Bears quarterback Jim McMahon was in the audience that night.
Thanks,
Jeff
