Black Mountain Side by Marc, alternate tuning

There has been some discussions in the forum about alternate tunings. I have been practicing this song on an off for quite some time now (about 2 years) and I thought about posting it . Still not perfect by far but it is a very fun song to play. The tuning is officially DADGAD but on the record (Led Zeppelin 1) Jimmy Page lowered all the strings by half a step so the results is C#,G#,C#, F#,G#,C# which I did for the video. This song was origianlly made by Bert Jansch who took it from a traditionnal Irish song.

I would appreciate any comments

Marc

Not a song I'm familiar with Marc but loved watching you play it. You are all over the fretboard (in a good way) and it's all very clean. Very nice, thanks for posting it.

MAN there are a lot of videos going up lately! :)

I've always loved that song.

I think you did the song justice. It's a difficult song.

I tried it some time ago and didn't get very far. It's definately on my todo list.

Marc,

I must admit I had not heard that song before. I liked what I heard when you played it, but was not sure of the "original", I just listened to it on YT and I think you really nailed it.

Great job. You have to love those alternate tunings.

Bob

I hadn't heard that song in probably twenty years but recognized it immediately when you started playing it. You mentioned that it wasnt' perfect, but it was damn near close to it. Very well done.

Great job Marc. Don't know much LZ stuff but that sounded great. Love the tuning - trying a few things with it myself.
