I made this video for several reasons, but mostly because I was inspired by Anton's and Tovo's recent videos which I thought were outstanding. The singing was just great. Also, Michele suggested that she might include some vocals in her next try at Scarborough Fair. So with that in mind, and despite the fact that I am not a singer in any way, I submit this post. Lot's of problems with it in terms of synchronization of audio/visual, but I'm continuing to learn how to use Moviemaker. This song comes off the Into the Wild soundtrack, and I'd recommend listening to the original on youtube. It's really a nice song, fun to play, and inspiring in some ways. Anyway, enough about that. Here is is. I'm taking a page out of Willem's book and including the lyrics.

On bended knee is no way to be free
Lifting up an empty cup, I ask silently
All my destinations will accept the one that's me
So I can breathe...

Circles they grow and they swallow people whole
Half their lives they say goodnight to wives they'll never know
A mind full of questions, and a teacher in my soul
And so it goes...

Don't come closer or I'll have to go
Holding me like gravity are places that pull
If ever there was someone to keep me at home
It would be you...

Everyone I come across, in cages they bought
They think of me and my wandering, but I'm never what they thought
I've got my indignation, but I'm pure in all my thoughts
I'm alive...

Wind in my hair, I feel part of everywhere
Underneath my being is a road that disappeared
Late at night I hear the trees, they're singing with the dead
Overhead...

Leave it to me as I find a way to be
Consider me a satellite, forever orbiting
I knew all the rules, but the rules did not know me

How funny, I've actually been thinking about trying to post a video of me playing and singing, and was thinking of doing "Society," also from the "Into the Wild" soundtrack and covered by Vedder.

Anyway, wow, I loved this and thought it sounded great. Any chance you could send me the TAB? If you have it, I'll PM you my email address.

Lastly, how can you be having any trouble with "What Child is This?" This song looks so much more complicated! Suzi

I loved your playing (really pretty) and the singing too. Great idea to do your own collaboration - its a great way to add the singing without messing your brain up trying to do too many things at once. Genius!

Jay, great video, you are good with technology. Good picking and good signing. It is much better than what you described on a previous post. It is very entertaining.

Good stuff Jay, didn't know of that tune but soon will.

Fluid picking and pleasant voice, I think you underestimate your ability to hold a tune.

Seems many of us are that way, guess the difficult part is sticking to your range and then knowing when to reach out and fake it.

Kudos for stepping up to the plate Jay, your voice has a very nice tone. Not a song I am familiar with either but it's nice so thanks for introducing it to me. The collaboration with yourself is a cool idea....no arguments there! :)

Great stuff mate.
