Hey there,

Was messing around with muting and tried it with this great Neil Young song (not in TARGET). You'll see that I haven't worked long on this song long- I'm really just posting this to show where my muting is at. I tried it mostly with base notes here. Does it work in general?

Let me know your thoughts..

Hey Al, keen to see it but can't get it to load. Is it just me?

Yep working now...as it was it was a FANTASTIC muting experiment. :)

I think it's worth persevering with for sure. As you said Al early stages for the tune but as a muting experiment it works in general I think.

I think it worked pretty well Al. I know that it was an early post, but I'd say that it might be better not to overuse it - maybe let the chords ring out a bit in the chorus. But the technique seemed really sound.

Thanks Reiver and Tony.

That's something I need to learn- when to use muting and when not to. Playing the chorus un-muted is a good idea.

I'm working on the palm muting myself. You have it down pretty well. Great job.

I think you muting is just fine, you shut the highest sound but leave a hint of the original chord sound. When to do it or not depends on the song and comes with experience of that song.

That was a good video as it reminds us to work on that aspect because it is not to be taken litely.

Thanks for sharing

Marc
