Al,

I started working on this song in the last week or so. Boy does it give your fingers a workout. And I totally agree: the change from the D to the B7/D# is by far the trickiest part of the song. I'm going to give your alternate fingering a try to see if it works better for me. I also want to look closer at the TAB and your video at some point; did you change it at all? Seems like there might have been some hammer-ons and maybe a passing bass that I don't recognize from the TAB, though of course I could be mistaken.

Nice steady notes and everything seems really clear. I still sometimes get buzzing bass notes when I play this (particularly in the intro) from not holding my bass notes down hard enough, but you don't seem to have that problem.

As for the effects, I'm kind of an "all-natural" kind of girl, so I'd prefer it without, but it's kind of cool with, too. To each his own.

dekotaj- thanks for checking it out. Glad you liked it.

jay- I agree, I like the sound a capo gives. The tab said Capo V, so I went with that.

reiver- Happy New Year to you too. Thanks for your comments.

suzi- looking forward to you version. and as always, let me know how/if I can help.

Hi Al, you did very well, very smooth and in control. As for the effect, it would be interesting to try with a deeper effect (more bassy) rather than clear (high treble)like now (as you can see I am a real sound specialist  ).

Hi Mark,

I just posted another version at the top of this thread with NO effects.

Thanks for watching.

Hi Al,

I much prefer the "no" effects version. Kudos on doing a great song very well.

H Al the no effect version is cleaner but nothing wrong with having effect, it gives a different perspective. You still play it very well with or without effects.

Al,

Sweet..................

Loved it. I first heard this song a few years ago and it blew me away. You did it justice. Looks like you got some really good technique going with this. You did great in both versions but I have to say the clean acoustic sound was better for my ears. Is it normally played that far up the neck? Don't recall what fret you used the capo on and I haven't seen Neil's lesson on it.

Thanks mark,

It's capo'd at the 5th fret. Neil's arrangements of both Jeff Buckley's and Kate Voegele's are capo'd on the 5th. I'm leaning towards the clean version as well-- or next time I'll at least back off the effect quite a bit.

I'm with Chas - I was getting some distortion thoroughout which was sort of distracting - but I liked the chorus effect too. Your playing is very smooth and you didn't look like you were having trouble for a second. I hope to emulate that competence and confidence once I finally get it into enough shape to post. I haven't concentrated on it yet, but Hallelujah is definitely on my learn in early 2010 list.

Thanks for the post and the reminder.

Sorry Michele- I missed your comment. Not sure why you got distortion throughout. I thought it was just the last chord. Either way, I uploaded a clean version where hopefully you won't hear any distortion.
