I think I'll wait to post them in case you come up with some changes.As always, Damian, I enjoyed your post. I'm pretty familiar with the song, and I think there's some wrong chords in there. Not your fault. Those were the chords that were handed to you. But I'll have to check and get back to you on this.
One suggestion I can make, and it has nothing to do with your guitar playing, is this: the phrasing of your singing is always right on the downbeat. You can make the song a lot more interesting by working between the beats, which is what John does.

As for the singing, after listening to the original more closely, I see what you mean, it's subtle but it's really the key. I think my flawed strumming pattern is causing a lot of that, not to mention how hard it is to sing in the off beats. My singing definitely affects my guitar playing but it's important to me to do both, I enjoy both equally.
