Tony,

Thanks for the feedback. Could you post up or PM me the version you are referring to as I have heard him sing this a number of different ways and would like to hear the one you have mentioned ?

Please do not worry how I will take your comments, as I know you make them to help us all advance as players and I always appreciate how forthright you are.

Thanks,

Budster

Buddy

Sounds to me similar to Garth Brooks but I haven't heard it in a while. Anyway I thought you did a great job and I think you'll do it well at your local pub. Good luck.

Bob, Thanks for cheering me on I appreciate it.

Tony, I think that is the studio version. I will give it a go as it a little different from the live version I had heard.

Thanks,

Budster

The song in this video is "The Thunder Rolls", but that's not Garth. One of the things Garth did as a youngster was protect himself, he owns his own songs and all the rights to them. I have no clue as to how one can find the original Video for any of Garth's stuff on places like YouTube, just not there.

Try this though :http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea ... =935858503

Garth Brooks and Pat Alger (singer/songwriter/guitarist along with sitting on many songwriter boards and programs concerning songwriters rights) wrote "The Thunder Rolls, along with three other number ones with Garth, "Unanswered Prayers", "What's She Doing Now" and "That Summer". Pat goes back to Brenda Lee and The Everly Brothers.

The song was written including the fourth chorus which Buddy included in his version. This version never hit the air, nor the video, until Garth began doing the fourth chorus in Live Sets. The recording company originally decided this fourth chorus was a bit too much so, they removed it from the recording. Garth felt that since so many of his fans had seen the video, the live version fell short and began doing the fourth chorus in his live sets. Of course, it was a huge success.

"The Thunder Rolls" (Live)http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea ... d=27175281

The video was banned from CMT and TNN until GAC began to broadcast it. In the 'real' video, Garth actually plays the part of the Husband. The video includes enough parts that the listener (or the viewer in this case) picks up on the entire story. I know I sort of dished Garth in another post, honestly, the guy brought C&W music (if not commercial music entirely)to a new level. Some of his songs, like this particular one, turned many nay-sayers into C&W fans.

There has been several post about 'favorites' to which I never replied. However, I'll admit Garth has two of them.

"Standing Outside the Fire" - http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea ... id=1816954

A story is told that Garth, and a few bandmates, were sitting around in a 'pub' in Nashville. Tony Arata was on stage and played this song, which he wrote. Garth supposedly jumped up (he was still an unknown at the time) and began screaming "Did you hear that? Did you guys hear that song?" and went into a tantrum. He then cut the song and it's never been the same for Garth, or Tony, since.

Buddy, well done, well done indeed. Best of luck in your live set!
