OK MJ, take your time mate. If you come back with "Hit me baby one more time" by Brittany Spears though we will know the wait was probably not worth it!
Tony:

You will NEVER hear anything positive about today's pop music coming from me. Completely lacking in soul and heart......IMHO

O.K. One song that comes to mind for me is "Against the Wind" by Bob Seger. More so now than in my younger days, as I can relate much more these days to the lyrics. Especially the part that goes: "Deadlines and commitments, what to leave in, what to leave out...."

So for now, I guess that will have to do.

I'll do my best to try and not change my answer....lol

Tovo- Great question! "The River" is a great song, one that is hard to listen to without wanting to cry. Bruce is a very talented songwriter.

Ok, I'm going out on a limb here, but I'm saying that my all-time favorite song is Simple Minds's "Don't You Forget About Me." I love how it begins, I love the singer's very sexy voice (anyone who can sing the lines "I'll be alone. Dancing. You know it, baby" and not sound absolutely ridiculous has to have a great voice), and I like the words to it. It's a song that I would never turn off if it came on the radio; I have listened to this song probably thousands of times yet it never fails to evoke a certain melancholic, bittersweet feeling in me.

Suzi:

I am not a big fan of Simple Minds, but this song will always be great to me because of the movie! "The Breakfast Club" is a classic that will always be one of my favorites. "Chicks cannot hold their smoke, that's what it is........"

I'd have to go for American Pie. When I first heard it I was about 12y.o. and it was the first song that really hit home with me. Made me want to be the guy on stage, singing and playing a guitar, if only I'd had some talent!
Reiver:

Great choice! One of the best songs of all time in my book as well!
Love to play this one for fun sometimes. It is just so long that I cannot memorize it yet......lol

Well not an easy question as it depends on moods time and place. But one song I would never turn off, and one I like to play the lead for is 'I Can't Tell You Why' the Eagles with Don Felder playing, the version with the current sideman Stueart Smith, is good but not the same

Good question Tony.

I had to think on this one for awhile, but I am close to Reiver on this one. Rather than Reiver's choice of "American Pie", I would choose Don McLean's song 'Vincent'. I have always loved the simple guitar work in that song, the great lyrics, and I have always admired the art of Vincent Van Gogh.

hmmmmm.. very tough to choose just one. As others have said, it does really depend on the mood you're in. Gotta think abooot this one.

It's got to be Tommy Emmanuel's Angelina:

A beautiful melody along with gorgeous harmonies a full base line and rhythm all out of one guitar.

Tony- that's easy! Stairway to Heaven for more reasons than I care to disclose here! LOL! The greatest rock song ever written!

Closely followed by Forever Autumn by Justin Hayward. Oops, I only get one! Okay, forget the second one! LOL! :cheer:

Another good one! I also favor "After the Thrill Is Gone". The Eagles had several good ones.
