Sorry to hear that Tom. A bummer for sure. How on earth did you tear a bicep while playing 5-a-side?! Running on your hands, holding some opponent off the ball :-) ?

Well you are better off than the guy I had to give CPR to in my first year of working in the sports sector... he was the goalie playing 5-a-side, must have been 55 - 60 years old. The emergency alarm went of in the centre and I was first on the scene and he was blue in the face. My first (and last) mouth to mouth. Unfortunately he didn't make it. One minute you're happily playing 5-a-side, the next you're gone. Enjoy the recuperation!!

Tom that really sounds painful. I hope your story doesn't turn out like Chris's. I know from experience , that the quality of your re-hab will make a huge difference in how you heal.

Take it easy.

Hi Chris, and I thought I had problems, that is some story. Must have been a shock to you.

In 5 a sides we all rotate into goals. It was my turn and some one from the opposite team fired a shot in, it was a rocket and I got my hand to it which should have stung my hand, but it didn't, as the pain from the ligament snapping was the only thing that hit me. It was a bit of a freak accident I would say. The ball hit my hand and the damage is done about ten inches along my arm. You can't legislate for that kind of thing and if you play sports injury comes with the territory and I accept that. Anyway I love my sport and it keeps me very fit (normally). Just bad luck on the day.

Thanks Scott, you are right. I will do everything in my power to get back to 100% as quickly as possible. What happened to Chris?

Thanks Suzi :)
the initial pain was really bad, then a bit of pain, but it is sorer today, maybe because it has been bleeding internally.

I am just gutted that I can't play football for a while, or my guitar after Friday's op' I am going to try to play my guitar up 'tllL Friday. Two of my favourite pastimes denied all at once.

Hey Tom, Maybe the surgeon can do what they did for Les Paul and set your right arm into the proper position so you can still play guitar while your arm heals. If they can't do that, then maybe you can hit the books on music theory and/or play with GuitarPro and write some cool multi-track pieces!

Great ideas Daryl. I had thought about the theory side of things, it is certainly no waste of time. I have lots of software to keep me amused, but learning more theory is one that appeals.

thanks, B)

Hey Tom,

Really sorry to hear about your injury - even though it was avoidable (we're not kids anymore lol). Hopefully you will find time to do something musical during your recovery (editing, listening, theory studying, etc.). I actually may be in guitar hiatus myself as I have an ever-increasing issue with very painful nerve issues in my left hand which is very much limiting my playing time. I haven't visited the doctor yet and I am really dreading it to be honest.
