Anyone using a guitar trainer?

I have a Tascam MP-GT1 that I use for trying to learn some classical pieces
when there is absolutely no accurate tabs to be found.

I like the way you can slow down a song (mp3) without changing the pitch of the
individual notes and play along. It may be something to consider for some of
the newest 'pickers' to the board.

There is also a free downloadable piece of software called 'Best Practice'. It also allows you to slow down song while keeping the pitch the same.
Oh, and did I mention it is free.

Check out a guuy called Mike Herbert he has a bit of software that slows down vids but doesn't distort the sound quality, it keeps pitch and you can select sections to loop over and over. I think its SloMoDirector or something like that, I had the trial version for a while and it was great never got round to buying it yet though

Doesn't Vista have that function on the supplied players, such as Windows Media Player?

It does but slomodirector loops slows and repeats bits of the video you select and maintains the correct pitch

Not free, but the BOSS MircoBR is also a great tool. It can hold several MP3's for practice. It can also slow down the song without changing the pitch, and it allows you to loop desired portions to further aid in learning a song. It also has multi-track recording so you can make your own songs on it and export them as WAV files or MP3's. FREE is always good, but this is a fun one to have around.
