Does anyone have a suggestion on which is the best type of capo to use on an acoustic guitar? I have trouble with the one i have making the top E string out of tune.

Two of the most popular brands are Shubb and G7th. I use a Shubb and like it. Capos can tend to knock a guitar out of tune. A couple of hints: if your capo has adjustable tension don't overtighten it as this can alter the tuning. Conversely don't leave it too loose or the strings will rattle. Also, try to clamp the capo straight down on the strings and not push or pull it as you're putting it on. Lastly, try to capo as close to the fret as possible (much like your finger on a barre chord).

I use a Kaiser quick release Capo, its fine on all my steel 6 strings but no good for my Tak 12 string. It can't depress the low E octave. A better one around for 12s is the Dunlop Trigger the piece that grips behind the neck has two separate rubber pads which apply equal pressure across the fretboard Also if you have a classical or a flat fretboard you need to ensure you get the appropriate flat capo, most brands have them.

I've used Kysers before. My problem with them is trying to fight the spring action as you put it on. If surferron is having trouble keeping his strings in tune that could exacerbate it. I've not tried the Dunlop yet but the idea behind it sounds good.

Also, good call 6string. Always re-tune after putting a capo on!

Try PAIGE Capos. They clamp at the fret bar, not in the middle of the fret that can stretch the strings and effect tuning. I have a PAIGE capo on my 6 string, 12 string, and on my classical guitar. They work great.

Wow. I never heard of so many issues with a capo. I have a Dunlop trigger and I've never had a problem with it.

What many issues? Surferron asked if anyone had advice for a capo that knocks the 6th string out of tune.
