Camera Angle for Lessons

Here is a suggestion that may improve the already high quality of the lessons offered on Totally Guitars: add an "over the shoulder" camera angle that shows what the left hand is doing on the fretboard, as would be seen by someone actually playing the instrument.

When watching a lesson and viewing the work of the fretting hand face on, our brains not only have to try to understand new concepts and theories, but we also need to take what we are seeing happen in front of us, and reverse it to make it happen for ourselves. This adds a needless roadblock to the learning curve.

It is amazing how much easier it is to grasp the fingering positions and timing when viewing the left hand from over the right shoulder.

Mike Herberts does that. It's sort of his trademark.

Mike Herberts videos are really good, his playing is not nearly as polished as Neils though, what we need is a collaboration.
