Has anyone tried Microsoft's new Songsmith application? If so, what do you think about it and what have you done with it? If it's any good, perhaps someone could create a Microsoft Songsmith Group here at TG where creations could get posted. What do you all think?

It's apparently good if you have to come up with a glow-in-the-dark-towel campaign.

there's suppose to be a trial version somewheres

You can go to microsoft's website and download the demo version. There are also some demo videos.

It looks interesting! Wonder if it could change my voice too???

The MicroSoft ad is rather hokey. There are reviews of the package out on the net that seem positive. I'm curious if anyone here has tried it for guitar instead of voice or has used the 'create your own chord progression/jam track' feature.

I know the ad and some "creations". I'm sure you've seen them on youtube (search for Roxanne and Songsmith for instance). They sound like 20-year-old midi keyboard demo song crap. I haven't tried it myself, and I don't plan to.
I can't imagine that it would be a useful songwriting tool. Learn the standard chord progessions instead, maybe get a cheap drum machine if you need to, and you're better off.

I watched them kill some Ac Dc Songs with that software. So I won't be trying it out. I did however see and improvement in Michael Jackson's Beat it!!
