Maybe you don't have to eat the Colonel's chicken--just ask for the used oil when they clean out their deep fat fryer.

Sometimes I really like the squeak. It can be extremely appropriate for certain songs, and gives them a little more personality, especially on recordings, because for some reason, now, every one expects everything to sound perfect, and the real world is far from perfect.

To go back to the original question for a moment....

Neil does not squeak much because he's been treated with a special coating. Its very expensive and very hush hush. Neil's fantasy secret society would come dip him in fryer fat if he let this info out...

I have actually had interesting results doing this. Apply vaseline to your fingers. Then wipe it off. You won't get it all unless you rinse with water and maybe hand soap. But your looking for slight barely noticable coating. Now play your guitar.

Yea I am not doing this with a %5,000 custom made one of kind instrument. But I was amazed how much quicker my fingers moved and no squeels.
