What type finish on my Guitar

How would I find what kind of finish is on my guitar. I have a Alvarez MD60 with a satin finish and I have a few shinny spots I would like to rid of.

Marty, try buffing the area with a dampened soft cloth first. If that doesn't do the job for you, Alvarez makes a polish and fretboard conditioner, try that. DO NOT use a furniture polish, most of them contain silicone.
