Further news on the Guitar Safari Hunt. Not sure I can afford a new guitar at the moment but........ I'd really like a steel string 6 string. I mentioned the Furch/Stonebridge guitars I found last week. This week I found Lakewood guitars (made in a small, cosy German boutique) and they sound even better and are more elegantly made and are a little bit more expensive. Looked at a D18CP with built in pick up for around FR. 3'000.00 with case and presumable a kiss on the hand when leaving the shop! The alternative was a Furch S40 CM for half that amount but sounding almost but not quite as good. Further research and figuring out the financing is required ... but it's fun to window and finger shop. BTW: Each time I take a Martin in the hand, it seems very well made but just doesn't sound and feel as good as the Lakewood or Furch... so far.

Buying a guitar.....?
Buying guitar is fun and should take some time. Go to smaller shops and check out various ones. Play scales and cords on them. Find the one that you like, fits you well and in the range of price. Each one is different- sound, feel , looks etc.
I have 2 Guild's (D55 & F47RCE) and a Blueridge BR180. The Blueridge puts out a great sounding guitar. Find what you like. Then you can purchase from ebay or a good small store. New is not necessarily better.

I'm not surprise the Lakewoods attract a higher price, check out the reviews, i've never seen so many overall ratings of 10's for so many models within a range before.Further news on the Guitar Safari Hunt. Yeah, if you rationalise it (after choosing and buying, of course!) you can say, Hey a guitar for the next 20 years.. that's 150 a year, that's 12.50 a month... cheaper than TG!
