An Eko Jumbo. Weighed about 300lbs. It played really well though - nice tone and really good action. Gave it away about 5yrs ago, sheesh.........

I've had an embarrassingly big number of guitars in a very short space of time. My 1st was a Takamine, quite good, then I had a disappointing Maton, then a very good little mini Maton that I still have. But the Taylor rocks. I am pleased to read that some of you had very good guitars early in your playing because I felt a bit wrong having a nice Taylor when I am not that good, but I agree it makes playing much more enjoyable, and as a result I practice more with the Taylor than perhaps I would with another guitar that I didn't like so much.

I have no idea what my first guitar was... it IS matchwood now. Same thing happened to my first tennis and squash rackets. Long time ago. I now have my fiery temperament under control!

My first guitar was a $5.00 beater around age 13. Don't recall the name. Don't know (or remember) what Became of it. My next one was a Harmony 12 string I got about a year later, although I usually didn't have the money to keep 12 strings on it. The action wasn't real bad but it certainly wasn't good.

Mine was made by a company called eko.
A very good make according to the bloke who sold it to me.

I bought it from a shop which sold assorted hi-fi (as they were called then) and music equipment. The owner played a few chords with it and off I went with it.

It was terrible. Must of had an action of about an inch.
As the guy who showed me my first chords said "if I had this guitar, I would have given up ages ago"

My first guitar was an old electric that I have no idea what brand it was.

So, my first real guitar I still have is an Alvarez acoustic.

I got a Sears "Silvertone" acoustic for christmas 1970. Tough on the fingers, but I got my start on it.

My first guitar was a Vox Teardrop white like Brian Jones's. Sold it for what I bought it for as the neck was warped, still wish i'd kept it.
