Tony's post on jamming with any musician, living or dead, reminded me of a convo I had with some friends of mine.

If you could go back in time to see any band or artist at any concert in their career, what would you choose? I'll be generous and give you two if you like.

Mine would be The Beatles when they played the Cavern Club in the early '60s. I think that was just before they broke in America.
I'd just sit back, have a pint and soak it all in!!

Elvis' 68 Comeback Special would be up there too.

I missed an opportunity to see Led Zeppelin in LA back in 1977. Them and the James Gang would be my choice. Oh ya, can't forget CCR.

My new policy is to award a karma point to anyone who starts a good thread. You'll get yours when the effects of Tony's wears off.

I used to be in the ad agency business in L.A., so I got free tix from radio stations to all the great bands at that time. What I would really like to do, though, is go back in time and see people before they were really known, and watch them win over an audience and blow their minds. Two examples I can think of both occurred at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967: Janis Joplin doing Ball And Chain, and Jim Hendrix doing Hey Joe.

Wouldn't THAT be fun.

Billy Holiday or Django Rhinehardt (if I could survive the smoke filled environment). . . . but, if it were concerts that I had a realistic opportunity and interest to go and didn't for some reason (sold out, no ride, too lazy, etc.), they would be in this order:

Karla Bonoff - Tampa, FL 1979? (Near the peak of her career)
Stevie Ray Vaughn - Alpine Valley, WI 1990? (his last concert also with Eric Clapton)
Little Feet - Rockford, IL 1979? (last one in Wisconsin area with Lowell George)

This is a good question, really makes one think, and brings back memories . . . mostly good ones.

I'm joining Al for a beer at the Cavern Club. Watching the Beatles will be awesome and Al's exotic accent will definitely be popular with the English girls.

After than I'm jetting to LA and taking in a Doors concert.

I can just see this , in your best Australian /Liverpool accent 'Hi girls this is Al, don't mind him he's Canadian....'
