I think the first song I learned the chords to (on the guitar) was also Let It Be, but the first I could really play all the way through (and sing to) was Streets of London. Still play that one almost daily, love it.

And, yes, Neil Diamond should be in the R&R Hall of Fame ... he is amazing.

Appropriate to this site: It was a campfire song-- Cotton Fields Back Home.

First song: "Jesus met the woman at the well." Three chords. Very popular song at my best friend's bar mitzvah.

"Just Remember I Love You" by Firefall

Verse
Fmaj7 - G6 - Fmaj7 - G6

Chorus
C - G - Fmaj7

Pretty simple song and a fairly easy solo as well.

Still play it, and still have fun with it....

The first riff I recall was 'Nutrocker', by ELP. The first complete tune was likely House of the Rising Son or Smoke On The Water, can't recall exactly which.

My first song was Eight Days a Week by the Beatles. It was just strumming the chords. I think that is how I learned to play a G chord. That is all I remember, except that is was 1983-4 and my teacher had crooked teeth, teeth aside he was a great teacher. Beaker.

Brown Eyed Girl was the first song that I could play through. I think it was at a Buffett concert........
