I'm actually being semi-serious here. If the problem is that the pick part sticks out from under the thumb then flip it over so that it sticks out the top of the thumb and then file it down.
But because of the way they are shaped, it may not be possible.
Who picks thumb picks?

If you want to try a different style of thumb pick then get a Fred Kelly Bumble Bee. They are yellow and black in color, hence the name, and they are actually a small regular pick that is mounted to a thumb holder. The pick is mounted on a slide so you can adjust how far the pick sticks out from your thumb. They come in two shapes Teardrop and Jazz, 4 guages of firmness, and two sizes. What I have found is if you get a Jazz model in the light or medium guage you can shorten the pick for fingerstyle and lengthen it for strumming. Yes, these are actually felxible enough for strumming.
