Anyone interested in a discussion of old Martin guitars? (1960 and earlier?) Actually, I'll gladly chat about any Martin. They've been a near obsession of mine for nearly 40 years.

Well Mike I would love to discuss old Martin guitars but I don't know much about them I own a dx1 and would love to get my hands on a Johnny Cash model.

I don't know much about them either. But I do have a Takamine copy of a Martin made in 1972. Love it!

I own a Martin 000-15L and love it. I have looked at many models, and find them all desirable.......lol

Would love to hear any info you have on the old ones. I make a trip down to Hollywood every once in a while to go to Guitar Center, Sam Ash and a few other stores. The vintage wall at the Guitar Center is beautiful...... Noe lefties though, so that is a bummer....

Bought my first Martin last month (000-28 EC) and am loving it. I've been drooling over the old timers for years and would one day buy one if I had enough confidence in my judgment of what I was holding.

I actually went to that store about two years ago, and thought that it was a great little store. The people who worked there are very nice and helpful. They had a used 000-15 at that time and I almost bought it then. I should have, as it would have saved me $150.00..... B)

The repair shop in the back was quite busy and the guys back there really seemed to know their stuff. I plan on going there again, next time I am up that way.

I am probably lucky that I can't find vintage guitars in lefty models. My wife would kill me..... :laugh:

I was lucky enough in the late 70s to pick up a 1931 0-18K (Koa wood) martin. It had been forgotten in an attic for 10 years or more and I paid the princely sum of $750 for it.While own several guitars, this is the one I regularly reach for - the tone is well balanced; playability is excellent; and, even though it is quite small, the volume is truly amazing.

1931! Wow! I'll bet it is a gem. Have any pics?

I could be wrong but I believe these are the guys behind Frets.com one of the best Luthier sites around.
