I found this metronome online to be quite interesting as it is also visual. When you run it, the first beat shows a big number one in red. I like it because I can still look at the fret board ans still see the first beat from the corner of my eye. The sound is still there but you can turn it off if you want to only use the visual. You can adjust the speed and different beat

Thanks Joe for the alternative. I was curious to compare the speed and the one you suggested at 96 PPM is spot on with my metronome. The one I suggested is a little slow. I had to put it at 97 to match the 96BPM from my metronome. Maybe it is because it has a cursor to set the speed instead of a button.

For anyone with an iPhone or iPod touch a friend showed me this great guitar app. It's called Guitar Toolkit and it comes with several tuners (6-string and 12-string, several different bass instr. Mando. Ukulele and Banjo) It has a chord guide, fret board to find notes. It has an awesome metronome too. It's really quite amazing.

Anyone playing guitar and has either an iphone or ipod touch needs this app.
