So after watching and learning with Neil for several months, I am convinced I need a metronome. So, which one should I get?

Any basic metronome will work. You can get really basic and have just a tick, or you can go really wild and get a full blown drum machine. Anything in that range will do fine, but if you go drum machine, you can always use it to play along with on your videos. Your prices are from $10 to $200. Start small and see how you use it first, then if you want, upgrade to the drum machine.

I got a Matrix MR600 from a local instructor that does the trick. It was about $50 and runs on a 9 volt battery.

Plenty of metronomes on line for the best price...free. Just google on-line metronomes and take your pick.

The online ones are great, if you can have your computer with you when you play. I have a really old one from my years at piano lessons with the arm that waves. You wind it up and slide a weight up and down the arm to mark the tempo. It is SO cool, but I noticed that they are really pricey new - like $100 or so. So I am going to pick up a small electronic one, hopefully tomorrow. I am really picky about the ticking sound. If I find anything good, I will post here again tomorrow evening.

The Korg MA30 fits in the guitar case therefore goes wherever you go, can't fit a laptop in your case ... or maybe you can.. Someone will tell me...

The Korg MA 30 is reasonably priced cost about $40NZ and does the trick

I have a Korg TM 40 which has both the metronome and the tuner (by microphone or plug in for electric guitar)

On my 17 inch monitor, that comes out almost life size. Cool.

We must have the same resolution on our monitors , it is a perfect match physically. I paid the same amount as you a few years ago.
