What guage strings do you play on your primary acoustic guitar? This question gets asked a lot and we all seem to have an opinion. Let's see what the group thinks.

This is the high E string for newer players!

Thanks!

Good question, Rick. I am pretty sure that my 'primary acoustic guitar' is the one that is closest at the moment. :) On my D-28 I have MSP3050 (.011), the D-35 has EJ12 (.012), and the Taylor has Elixir Nanoweb (.010). I like all of them now, even though for many, many years I played .012 exclusively.

Elixir .012's. I lodged a response in the poll but it didn't register as you can see, 3 responses only 2 show in the chart.

I used to play only DR 10's but since I had Gracie repaired, I've been using Elixir Nanoweb 12s and love them.

I'm another one for elixir nanoweb 12

I've got 13s on one guitar which I keep in open D but I don't notice any difference

I'm using Martin Acoustic 92/8 Phosphor Bronze Extra Light, .010 on my 12 string. Yeah, I'm a bit wimpy so I go for the lightest I can find. ;-) The decisive point is whether the G string octave holds up. If it breaks too easily I go for heavier strings. At the moment it works with these pretty well.
