I was watching a concert in the ancient Roman Amphitheatre near my home here in Switzerland last night when an American traditional musician named Tim Eriksen started playing a 12 string instrument called a Bajo sexto. The sound of this instrument blew me away. From what I can find out is that it is tuned in a E,A,D,G,C,F. Has anyone any information on these instruments?

Hi David, was that in the amphitheatre in Kaiseraugst? That would be 20 mins up the road from where I am. Any other stuff going on there in summer? Don't know the instrument.

Hi Chris,
The concert was in the Roman Amphitheatre in August Raurica, which is about a 10 min bicycle ride from the house. They have it set up very nicely for the Alexanderfest and the Romer Fest later this month (http://www.augustaraurica.ch/menu/index.php) . I was at the Celtic Roads Stimmen Festival (http://www.stimmen.com/de/details-vorfu ... eltic-road) where they brought Gaelic singers from Scotland, Ireland, Brittany and America to demostrate the similarity of the Folk music. Very intersesting and I hope they do it agian next year.
