I won't list all of the concerts I have enjoyed over the years, but I will mention one for which I was particularly grateful. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts came to Bagram, Afghanistan in November 2002 as part of a USO tour, and I must say they put on a great, great show for the troops. I was simply amazed at the effort they put into the show, and was surpised by how many songs I recognized.

WOW, Jay, first off it somehow got by me that you were a veteran. (Now, I respect you even more than I already did. ) I had a similar experience with Joan Jett's amazing raw stage energy and professionalism...I though I would share this:

Picture This: Sangamon County, IL Fairgrounds in New Berlin, IL.(Summer-2001) S (By the way, "Berlin" it aint' pronounced the German way.) The high school mascot is the New Berlin, Pretzels & the whole town has less than 200 people in it. Sangamon County includes Springfield, which has a nice state fairground facility. Somehow, tiny New Berlin conned the powers that be into to getting the County fair ground years ago. Many big acts have played this tiny venue. (I kid you not, we're talking the middle of nowhere, nothing but cornfields and prairie wind...our hero, JETT takes the stage with six people in attendance! I was less than five feet from her with my childhood friend drinking warm Miller Lite. She proceeded to Rock that place like she was playing Shea Stadium!! This before I met my wife, and I think I fell in love. AMAZING!! I love Rock N' Roll, Hit me with your Best Shot, RoadRunner, CherryBomb, Crimson & Clover, etc. etc....best barre chord bashing I ever saw. (From an intensity standpoint...to this day it is the best concert I ever saw!)I can only image the kind of intensity she generated for our fine servicemen & women!)

Sorry about being long winded and reminiscing so much...but it was beyond awesome!
