Choose 3 songs for your big send off

There are a few unavoidable things in life. One is tax, the other is that day you probably won't remember all that well.

I guess I could be accused of being a bit morbid, but I'll risk it.

What tunes would you want played at your funeral service? Being a magnanimous type, I'll let you have 3. After all, we are all such wonderful people the service will undoubtedly go on for some time.

So, list the 3 tunes you would choose. I'll start:

1. Who wants to live forever (Queen)
2. You'll never walk alone (Jerry and the Pacemakers)
3. Over the rainbow (Eric Clapton did a version I really like so it would be that one)

Interesting question, Tony. Honestly, though, I've thought at times about songs I'd play at other people's funerals (loved ones; songs that I felt summed up their personality or life) but I don't think I've ever thought even once about what should be played at my own. And I'm having a hard time coming up with one, let alone three! But I guess i'll go with I'll Fly Away, sung by Alison Krauss and Gillian Welch (from the O Brother Where art Thou? soundtrack).

What a question......
I'd add an Argentinean touch to the first one...

1) Mi Buenos Aires Querido (Tango)...
2) Ode of joy (Beethoveen)
3) Bye Bye Life (All that Jazz)

1. Down Down-Status Quo
2. Ring of Fire-Johnny Cash
3. No Way Back-Foo Fighters

And for my gravestone,
"I told you I was ill"

(I've always been a Spike Milligan fan)

Well certainly not a happy thought! But I have thought of it and really only ever had one song in mind and it would be of course a Beatles tune...

Tony- that's not too hard:

Modern music:

1. Stairway to Heaven

2. Forever Autumn (Justin Hayward)

3. I Will Find You (by Clannad)

But it's mandatory I have these songs played too:

1. Taps

2. Amazing Grace (on the bagpipes)

Another great question! :cheer:

Hey Pete. It's no great mystery, I don't stay up late at night thinking of threads! lol. I'm going to a funeral tomorrow unfortunately and being an emotional type, I always wonder what music will be played as that generally is the deciding factor as to whether I hold it together or lose it. So I thought of this thread.
