Sight reading and Mel bay...

Oke,,i do think i know what it is,,,but who can tell me in other words what it really is..
I think,,,sight reading,,you read music standaard notation or tab and play right along..reading/playing//??
Mel Bay,,this is music written in standaard notation,,but with the notes goes the fingering numbers and maybe circled numbers that give you the string where you can find the notes??
