If I'm playing with someone and they play it in open chords, I can play along no problem as long as I know the tune, even if I've never played it before. I just need to watch them for the changes.

Does that count? LOL

Tony, mon ami, another good question. Before TARGET I had about 10 songs in my bag. Now I have at least 20 and maybe 25, with another dozen pretty close. when I say close, I mean I have the music down but I can't always remember the lyrics perfectly.

Maybe I should rank them by number of beers. "Four Beer" songs, for example, would be those I could play almost drunk! LOL! They might sound terrible but at that point I wouldn't care!

Cheers!! :cheer:

Al's thread inspired me to pick up my 12 string and I started playing and remembered one of my favourites not mentioned in my list 'Wanted Dead or Alive' now that's a cool 12string song

Tony you made me think about this one. And I wanted to be accurate. Like everyone else, some songs fade with lack of use and other are fresh from practice and still others are simply unforgettable for me. I have played for 3 hrs non-stop on occasions. Of course, most my versions are camp fire versions and I can have a momentary black out any time or weather. I've also noticed that if I'm tired I can forget anything. I am reminded of an interview with Rex Harrison when he was over 80 where he was asked if he could remember the songs of My Fair Lady which he'd done on stage and in film a zillion times... he couldn't! So I'm sure I'm going to loose many of the ones I know some day. But you made me go back through my song book to check, with guitar in hand and I came up with the following. I know, I'm just a big show off, but you did ask!:

Did I just hear Chris volunteer for a spot as guest teacher? Others heard that right?
