Great going Al! Love that sound and your singing is just great. Thanks for sharing your fun with us. My tip on that D chord is bar it with with 1 and use ring finger for the second string.

Thanks for the tip on the D chord, Chris- but I don't know if that fingering will work for this song. There are many hammer-ons/pull-offs/susses around that pesky D.

Al,
Sounds great...and good choice of song for your "test drive". I haven't spent too much time with a 12 string so I can't offer advice, but love the "full" sound. I'm excited to pick one up now. Thanks for the inspiration.

Absolutely awesome Al. Given you are still test driving this beastie that was exceptionally good. Really enjoyed that. Issues with fingering go away in time as you get used to the idea of fretting two strings and their relative position. I now rarely think about it when I change to my 12.

I'll echo other members you've have got to finish this and post it again, you may need to buy that beastie or rent for another month, I'll be surprised if you don't, they are addictive!

Al, at the end of the rental, if you decide to buy a 12-string, check out eBay and Cragslist first before you plunk down your money. With the soft economy, there are a lot of great bargains out there on some very good guitars.

Al,

This sounded really nice. You're right that a 12 string makes any song sound cooler and bigger. Your singing was nice on this song- you didn't seem to be having any trouble singing loudly enough to overcome the sound of the 12 string; it never sounded to me like you were straining. I bring that up in part because I find it much harder to sing above a strummed song than a picked song- you have to project so much more, and that's not so easy for me.
