Duplicate uploads- what's your take?

Lots of replies here, and thanks to Matt for giving TG's perspective.

What I take away from it is this-

Uploads help TG and keep the site active and vibrant. Uploads can help both the uploader and the viewer.

One sticky point was the possibility of stealing someone else's thunder (or 15 minutes of fame) with a duplicate busking upload. My answer to that is to just let a bit of time pass between yours and someone else's duplicate upload in a busking thread.
I personally don't think it's necessary to PM someone to upload a duplicate song that someone else has done- unless you're doing it on the same day (or week?) as them. My opinion anyways.

Thank you all for chiming in.

I've got the day off work today. Guess what I'll be doing?

:)

**EDIT- Just to be clear- I'll be recording a video for UPLOAD!

This is my first YT account, can anyone advise?
Yes, I have some advice. Don't post any attempts at humor at someone else's expense unless you know that person very well.

Dermot-

I'm assuming you uploaded the video to your own channel. Firstly, sign in to your channel (your account). At the top right of the screen you'll see your account name. If you click on that, you'll get a bunch of options (My Channel, Inbox, et). Click on My Videos. Next to the video you uploaded, there should be a small button that says "Edit." Click on that. Scroll down a bit and there is a section entitled "Broadcasting and Sharing Options." There you have your different privacy settings. You'll need to set yours to "Public" to make it so that others can see it.

Hope that helps.

Suzi
