And can you help me with the lyrics? I've sent email to Liliana and to Jason but nothing back yet.
Here's what I'm hearing (I can't quite get what I've put in bold)

i should be crying now but I don't
my feet should fall down underneath but they won't
I should be screaming at the dark there is no sound
I should be feeling so lost without you around

you never gave to me
the love that i need
the love i was hoping for
we played pretend too long
i won't do it anymore no
i won't do it anymore

i should be hurrying now but i don't
my friends_should ask me to fight for it but they won't
i know they've seen what i have to ?
we were never good if i thought that we could change this
but fight for it i won't

but you never gave to me
the love that i need
the love i was hoping for
we played pretend too long
i won't do it anymore no
i won't do it anymore

you never gave to me
the love that i need
the love that i was hoping for
we played pretend too long
i won't do it anymore no
i won't do it i won't do it i won't do it anymore
i won't do it i won't do it i won't do it anymore
anymore

OK. For anyone who cares......I found that this is an original song by Liliana and that she has a CD available on iTunes called "Postage Stamp". Unfortunately, this song is not on the CD.

What is it about the song that got your attention, Daryl?

Where do I begin? The initial simplicity of the song was pleasant (although the sound quality wasn't very good) but then Lliliana's started to sing. The 1st line of the melody just grabbed me. And the reverb on her voice was so perfect (to my ears). Then, the tone and quality of her voice just knocked me down. So strong and emotional. Then the chorus/hook came in and kicked me while I was down! "You never gave to me....the love that I need....the love I was hoping for...". Beautiful. The 2nd time the chorus came around she was even more emotional (the shoulders hunched up and then relaxed in submission/acceptance or whatever it was she was feeling). The way she ended the song with the 3rd chorus she threw all kinds of emotion into it. I loved it all. I sensed that this song was a work in progress and that she hadn't figured it all out yet, but it was still very emotional to me. I love her voice.

Daryl,

I appreciate the thorough response. I've had that kind of reaction to specific songs (Joni Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt, Sheryl Crow), all done by women. Makes me wonder if there's a romantic component to my attraction. Anyway, I really enjoyed meeting Lilliana and hearing this song. She's got a bit of Eva Cassidy in her voice.

Dennis, When I posted this thread I didn't know if Liliana was doing an obscure cover or if it was something she wrote. I was sort of hoping that it was an obscure cover and that I could find other versions or the original. But I'll have to be satisfied with this video for now until Liliana releases a studio version or does it again at some live event that gets uploaded.

Here are a couple of other videos you might find interesting (one being a Joan Baez cover).....

I was hearing Joan Baez as well as a bit of Eva Cassidy there Daryl ... quite a gripping song and I agree with you, there's something unfinished in the song...
