I started the thread by mentioning Blackbird and Here Comes the Sun, but there are a few other songs I seem to play at least once a week:
The Difficult Kind - Sheryl Crow
Country Honk - Rolling Stones
Homeward Bound - S & G
You've Got a Friend - James Taylor
Fire & Rain - James Taylor
She's Not There - Zombies
Love of My Life - Queen
Sad Songs & Waltzes - Cake
Autumn Leaves - Eva Cassidy
Which songs do you refuse to let go of?
Hmmm....would like to answer the question.....but there are just too many songs that I keep going back to.
Well let me tell you which ones I keep coming back to as in trying to play them, I mean like once in a while....
Classical Gas
Nola
Bolero
I'm doing fine on Classical Gas, but bits of the chorus, or whatever section that is, just gives me a headache...lets say I'm just not satisfied easily.
Nola, I do got the first and according to Muriel the most important part down, but I keep getting stuck at the same things, it's not really improving.
Bolero, lóng arrangement. Just don't have the patience to get through it all, but here and there I do return to the song, it's a fantástic arrangement by Kotaro Oshio. Yes, Sungha plays it too!
Bút I like to sing, if I can't sing, I get bored easily and move on to vocal songs.
Sorry for not really answering your question. :S

I have a few that I'm keen to stay on top of as they were mile markers for me learning to play.
Classical Gas - First serious instrumental.
Here Comes The Sun - First Travis picking instrumental.
Loving Arms, Darden Smith - A life-long favourite song I was able to piece together from watching it being played.

Scarborough Faire, Sound of Silence and The Boxer - been playing those about 30 years
Lyin' Eyes, Brown Eyed Girl, Moonshadow, Heart of Gold, Black Magic Woman, Stairway to Heaven, Fire and Rain, Runaway, House of the Rising Sun
Seems anytime I hold my guitar for any length of time I revert back to playing several of these. Lately though I've been re-hashing Good Riddance, Honky Tonk Women, TCB, and a few U2 songs. Hmm... I think my age is showing here!
