Hi Everybody
I have picked up the guitar again after many years and am having lots of (slow developing) fun. TG has been a big part of my enjoyment. I have an old 12 string I would like to play more. What songs/lessons would you recommend I start with?
Thanks

Hi Dan and welcome to the TG-forums! Great to hear you're enjoying the site.
I see you've already gotten some suggestions. Another one which came to my mind is Norwegian Wood/Beatles.
Can you tell us a little bit more about yourself and your guitar playing?
All the best to you,
Vanessa

What kind of music do you like?
Eagles - Hotel California sounds great with the 12 string
Neil Yong - Pocahontas and Thrasher
Poison - Every Rose Has It's Thorn
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Everyone else has tossed out some gems as well.
I like to play my 12 string sometimes too, and I find that lots of songs sound good on it. Even ones that were not really played with one. I find that if you are strumming along by yourself, it can add some depth to the song all on its own.
Have fun!

Hi Dan! Welcome from Portland, Oregon. I play a big Taylor 12 string and any of the folk songs on this site would be good choices. John Denver, Gordon Lightfoot, Peter, Paul and Mary, Ralph McTell; all the old folk tunes sound fabulous.
As others have suggested, Stairway, Wish You Were Here, some Neil Young, America, Hotel California. Really, there are few limitations.
Enjoy and happy playin'

Hi Dan,
Welcome from Connecticut! A lot of John Denver songs are good on the 12 string: Rocky Mountain High in dropped D, Take Me Home Country Roads, Thirsty Boots. Anticipation by Carly Simon. Anything by the Byrds. "As Tears Go By" or "Wild Horses" by the Stones. The list goes on. Hopefully you'll post one on the busking channel.

Thanks Everybody. Very helpful.
I grew up in the late 60s and early 70s so its Beatles, CSN, Neil Young and of course Dylan. But I also like Ralph McTell, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Simon and Garfunkel and the Dead.
More recently I am a fan of Lucy Kaplansky, Richard Shindell, Nanci Griffith, Natalie Merchant , Jacob Dylan and maybe a little Willie Nelson. I also like these guys called Passenger and Iron & Wine. Standard acoustic stuff I would say. I have been trying to play this type of thing.
Thanks for the welcome but I think it will be a while before I post a video. It's coming back pretty slowly if it was ever there.
Best,
Dan
