This is for our officially OLDEST forum member Chas in NZ and anyone who likes beautiful guitars and needs some G.A.S. inspiration! So, Chas, OLD chap, I found a phone booth and changed into my Clarke Kent identity and played some actual Aussie guitars today. You may know them as Cole Clarkes (vids 1 & 2). Third vid, Taylor and BSG and glimps of two 1930's Martin, some Gibsons, Santa Cruz, National guitars and BSGs. I didn't edit the videos, they are raw and in Nr.1 Miss Ale kindly played camera woman. The sound would have been much better if I had remembered to take my Sony stereo cam (dang!) but this is just Samsung Tab4. Enjoy! :)

Nice. What was the guitar you were playing between 4:30 and 6:00?

That would be a Cole Clarke Angel (we have Fat Ladies and Angels!) solid spruce... very nice for picking. The Fat Ladies (= dreadnought) are definitely for strumming and can be picked, the Angles (= concert body) are for picking.

All in all, the Cole Clarkes are very easy to play and handle very nicely and the Fat Ladies have a strong bass. There are non of the over-tones that my BSG has and they sound good but slightly duller than the American guitars. The craftsmanship is, well, Aussie! To be played where there is sheep wrangling in the background :-). So the woods are mat and there are no glossy finishes anywhere. Some of the woods are nice but its a little bit like wearing jeans in a fine restaurant.

IMHO there's nothing wrong with wearing jeans in a fine restaurant! Especially the $200 a pair kind. But I prefer the $30 ones especially if I can get them at a second-hand store for $2!

You've made me homesick for my BSG Chris, even with a crappy iPad speaker the depth comes through.
BTW the Taylor sounded awesome too, how did you like it? You know I trust your judgement ;)
I could be tempted to satisfy my GAS and dust the ol' cheque book off...

Chris you've come of age! Cole Fat Lady ideally sound great plugged in as you can then use the body piezo and the saddle in combo to get the best out of them, They have the slider controls giving you endless variations.
