Well, in the end I spent 3 days going between various stores and in the end I went for the Taylor 214e DLX Grand Auditorium acoustic-electric, which I have cradled in my arms right now back home in Mexico City! Very happy! Thanks for all the advice from everyone who posted, it really was a great help! In fact the girl in the store said that she had never seen someone come in armed with so much info!

Congratulations Johnny! I know you will love that guitar. There is a guy on YouTube who plays a 214ce and I've always thought it sounds fantastic. I can't ID his YT page here because his is a teaching page, and we here at TG are told not to refer to other teaching sites on the forum. So if you PM me, I'll be glad to give you the reference.
