I would love to come up with a very original answer, but I gotta agree with Dr. Bob...
When I'm awake...
On the other hand, I have to say that for me playing the guitar (in general, occasionally I find myself playing an instrumental) is always combined with singing. It's that particular combo for me. That's what makes me tick. (is that a correct expression? :dry: ) In my deepest darkest hours I still play and sing.
So to rephrase that a bit: I love playing the guitar and sing, when I'm awake. That should be the line for me.

When things fall into place and I'm in the zone; when I don't need to think about what I'm doing and I can feel the groove, the vibration of the guitar, the emotion and meaning of the music and just express myself and how I feel at that moment in time...
And when you get swept away by the music, engrossed in it and it improves your mood.
