As if I didn't already have a cray-cray enough life right now, I went and did something perhaps rash. Over the weekend I was jamming with my nephew who's just started learning to play his shiny new bass guitar, and when he was taking a break from 12 bar blues runs I picked it up and started noodling around. It was so fun! I had until then never touched a proper bass; I've long used my digital guitar set up to sound like one whenever I needed some bass tracks.

Well, I had to get one. I wasn't going to pay new instrument prices for something that'll be (at best) a side show, and I decided that it had to be PRS, because reasons. Lo and behold: Reverb had a used 2014 model of exactly the one I'd get if I were to buy one new, listed in "excellent" condition and from a very reputable vendor. Even better, the price was nearly US$200 less than I saw others asking for the same instrument and about half the street price for a new one of that model.

Badda-bing. Just waiting now for it to be shipped here from Wisconsin.

Thanks, guys! Based on my initial experiments with my nephew's, first skill I'll need to pick up is sliding and/or moving my fretting fingers without involuntary pull-offs. Those fat strings just did not want to let go of my fingers without a fuss! Part of it might be the action on his Stedman starter instrument, so I'll reserve my concerns until I've fondled the PRS a bit. :side:
