On The Beat - Episode 699 - Weekly Guitar Video News Wrap Up March 17, 2023
March 17, 2023
This morning I was listening to an album that was a huge influence on me as a teenager – After The Ball by John Fahey. This led to me opening today’s Update with a few tunes from it, along with a few others that I was messing around with at the time. These were ones that I found in the first fake book that came my way – Golden Standards Of The 1900s. You might recognize the tunes from the 1920s. By the end I passed on some tips on good fingerpicking exercises.
In between I mentioned our new lessons with some news on recent packs. The lessons were an acoustic look at Wooden Ships by CSN and Randy Newman’s I Miss You, and the pack news was a new one with 8 Jim Croce lessons, as well as upgrading the John Fahey one to include 10 lessons.
I hope you enjoy the Fahey tunes, and even check out the album.
See you next week,
Neil

Mr Hogan, thank you for posting the lesson "Wooden Ships" I can'y wait to dig into that beautiful song.
I hope you do get to a lesson on John Fahey's "Beverly". It's a lovely tune and I'd like to try learning it.
