The song is "Superstar" and it was written by Leon Russell and Bonnie Bramlett. The biggest hit version was by the Carpenters. I have no idea about the songs early beginnings.

"Your Guitar sounds so sweet" .. no I am not a groupie ;)
Anyway... Delany & Bonnie and friends first recorded it and I think one of the friends was Eric Clapton ???
Of course Karen put it on the map as haoli said.

cheers

One of Neil comment was about some songs from Fleetwood Mac before Nicks/Buckingham. The one I like the most was Hypnotized.

Good job Bill, I knew it was Superstar and that the Carpenter's had a hit with it, but I didn't know who wrote it. Leon Russell, cool.

Steve, I remember reading a review in 'Billboard' magazine when Leon Russell released 'Tightrope'. The review also mentioned that he had co-wrote 'Superstar' for the Carpenters the previous year. It went on to say that all he had done was sped up the melody and removed the 'mellow' to create 'Tightrope'. :)

RE: the dream team behind the scene. How about a brief video introducing all the folks behind the scene. Each could introduce themselves, or Neil could do it and briefly discribe the behind the scene contribution. I think we would all like to put a face to the name, as they say.
Anyway a big thanks from me to all of the Target Team.
You guy as has been expressed many times, do an outstanding job.
Pizza for everyone!
