Hi Everyone,

Here is you weekly video wrap up for this week......

http://www.totallyguitars.com/blog/tota ... -2012.html

Enjoy!

March 9, 2012

This week we added some songs that have been on our 'Recommend A
Lesson' list for a long time. We started with Eva Cassidy's
arrangement of Kathy's Song, a beautiful song written by Paul Simon
that was on Simon& Garfunkel's second album, Sounds Of Silence.

We continued with one of my favorites, Laughing by The Guess Who. This
is another example of a great collaboration between Randy Bachman and
Burton Cummings. At the end of the week we released Peter Gabrel's
Solsbury Hill. This has been a favorite for guitar players since it
came out in the late 70s, even though thick instrumentation, heavy on
keyboards, really pushes the guitar licks into the background. This is
a challenging instrumental piece.

Joining our 'Fly On The Wall' series this week were a couple of non-
Target songs that really have enough info in them to teach you the
song if you are interested. They were Bob Dylan's Desolation Row and
another oldie by Lobo, Me And You And A Dog Named Boo. After the two
Lobo lesson with Fred I hope everybody who wants to play it can figure
it out. If not, try moving it up the recommended list.

We also had a couple Student Reviews. We had an upload from Matt
playing Embryonic Journey and another from Buddy doing Hallelujah.
These were very good renditions and there were a few suggestions to
help advance them a little more.

Many of our members prefer to get their lessons in packs of songs by a
particular artist. This week we put together a 10-pack of songs by
Damien Rice. Of course, Target members already have this but if you
are on the fence about Target and are a Rice fan, be sure to consider
adding this set of tunes to your collection.

Next week- we might explore some piano based songs (at least one).

Stay Tuned & In Touch,

Neil

Wonderful weekly update (as ususal). You always make Friday better than normal Neil.

You mentioned getting into the "recomend a lesson" vault, it makes me wonder, Has anyone recomended anything from Bonnie Raitt, and are there songs in her arsenal, that would have enough value, that Neil would want to teach them?

Food for thought on yet, another snowy day in Alaska.

Scott

ps 8"to go and Anchorage will hit an all time snowfall record of 132.7 inches of snow in one season.

Neil,

I believe one mystery song is a chord solo for Comfortably Numb???

One other I believe is Elton John Goodbye Yellow Brick Road???

If not, then whoops!

The second one is an obscurish Elton John tune, "Love Song." (Right?). But I can't place the first one -- sure sounded like "Breathe" by Pink Floyd to me, until the second part. Hmm......

Wow, you got the obscure one but not the big hit. Love Song is one of a very few songs Elton performed that was written by someone else, other than obvious covers. It was written by Leslie Duncan who played the guitar part and sang with Elton on his album Tumbleweed Connection.

Keep working on the other, it'll come to you.

I was an obsessive EJ fan from ages 9 to about 13, during his heyday, and still listened a lot even after that. Which explains my recognition of "Love Song." (Full disclosure: I recognized it as a tune from Tumbleweed Connection, but had to look it up to pull the actual title.)

But of course, that just makes my inability to pull the more famous one that much more of a mystery. I def. know that melody line at the very end when you're on the C and. G, but it's not coming so far....

Hint? Was it from that same era? (Which I would say is everything up to "Blue Moves.")

Oh, wait! "Rocket Man?"

And of course the third one is "Goodgye Yellow Brick Road," which was never Officially pronounced as correct.
