how to fix broken off bridge

I just recently purchased (on ebay) a vintage Martin acoustic. When I received it, it was super dirty and dusty and the strings looked like they were 30 years old! So I got myself a restoration kit/cleaner and began the task of getting off someone else's gunk! That's when the bridge came off..it was already loose so it's nothing I did. But it is in one piece. Just looks like it could just be glued back on. Is this something I can do with Elmers Carpenter's wood glue?

I wouldn't attempt it on a vintage Martin. But here are a couple of videos that talk about how to do it:

AH! Thanks for the videos..They totally scared me so therefore I am taking it to a local luthier. Everything else seems good on it..straight neck, (thank goodness), so I'll just spring for the repair. I only paid $130 which included the case full of cobwebs! :woohoo:

What model number Martin and how old is it? Can you post a picture of it?

For all guitar maintenance tips use Frets.com, they break almost everything you need to know into easy steps to follow and recommend tools and equipment required and sometimes cheap alternatives. IMHO a must have on your Favourites.

Robin, I think taking it to a pro is a wise move. However, I would like to hear about your progress with your project.

I brought it to the local luthier and he was so excited to see it! I let him "do it the right way". He dressed the frets, put on a new nut and fixed the broken bridge. He worked on it for 6 weeks. We had a summer of lots of humidity which is why he said it took so long. It looks like new and sounds amazing!

It is actually a Sigma Martin. Model DM-1 W. I will post a photo as soon as I get my camera back from my cousin who borrowed it!
