First off this week I want to send our best wishes out to all those
affected by the weather on the East Coast. I was glad to see posts
from some of our members there being relatively safe.

This week we welcomed another new poster to the Uploaded Videos club,
and I see more are coming in every day. Please keep it up as there are
many good learning opportunities in most videos. Our Review this week
was on Ralph McTell’s Streets Of London.

The Fly On The Wall lessons included Sandy working on smoothing out
troublesome transitions in Here Comes The Sun and a Campfire look at
If I Were A Carpenter, a song that probably warrants a more formal
lesson soon. Start listening to the original by Tim Hardin and
possibly Robert Plant’s and see what you can get first. (Hint: Dropped
D).

This week’s Target Lessons were both a lot of fun to put together, and
probably surprises to everybody (good surprises I hope. Dance With Me
is simply one of the coolest guitar songs ever, making great use of
parallel thirds moving through the chord changes. Sweet Jane is a
pretty basic strumming song from Lou Reed’s early days with The Velvet
Underground that includes some slightly tricky syncopated strumming.
Both of these songs might fall into the ‘guilty pleasure’ category.

More along these lines coming soon, let the speculation begin!

See you next week,

Neil

Neil, is there anything that you struggle with? My gosh, it seems the hat you keep pulling stuff out of is endless.

I second your thoughts for everyone affected by such a nasty storm. My heart goes out to all those folks.

I am glad you started with Lou Reed and very curious which songs you will add to the packedge intime(don't forget you started one),,

''If I where a carpenter'' It could be my first song to learn in dropped D if you do that one..

I really enjoyed your lesson ''dance with me'' and the stuff thats going on in that..really fun ..its not easy but only the knowledge on whats going on is worth to look at it..and I did.

Sometimes I think ''thats simple'' ,,and then I discover that even counting the beats is hard to do...

My heart goes out to them WHO lost family and friends in the lately hurrican''sandy'' .

Willem

ps have all a great weekend but a very good next week..

Tom Bermuda Triangle Exit sounds great.

I noticed it's in Recommend A Lesson.
I've put a vote in there for it for you.

I hope you do "If I Were A Carpenter" soon. I heard Johnny Cash sing it on the radio when I was a kid and liked the song, but was blown away the first time I heard Bobby Darin's arrangement of the song. It is a great song.
