Sparked by the ragtime comments in the forum related to the Smothers Brothers Theme, today's News included me stumbling
through a couple arrangements that were in pretty good shape 30 years ago. It also gave me a good reason to dig out some LPs
and tab booklets from Kicking Mule Records. This was a great series spearheaded by Stefan Grossman in the 1970s that featured
unknown but fabulous guitar players from around the world playing their own arrangements of Scott Joplin pieces, among plenty
of other similar composers and songs.
A short summary of the new stuff this week included Scott McKenzie's San Francisco (Be Sure To Wear Some Flowers In Your Hair),
the ragtime-flavored Smothers Brothers Theme, the conclusion of Marc's visit to TG Central and his Fly On The Wall lesson, and a
couple more Ear Training Exercises, this time the keys of D and E were featured.
We also had a few more songs from the Hogan family private concert at my sister's house in Ben Lomond, Foolish Games by Jewel,
the Dutch translation of Leonard Cohen's Suzanne, and our Carpenters like take on Superstar by Leon Russell.
The personal ragtime revival reminds me I'd better get back to practicing more so that's all for now.
