A big thanks to my colleagues Vanessa and Max for picking up my
self-inflicted slack lately. They brought us lessons on Airplane by
the Plain White T's
and Otis Redding's (Sitting On) The Dock Of
The Bay
. The latter inspired today's opening improv and you will
no doubt recognize a bit of the closing one as one of my Top
Songs That Every Student Must Learn.

There was an interesting cross section of threads this week on the
Forum and I threw out a few thoughts about practicing, neck
width and big fingers, along with comments on some recent
uploads.
One of which was more of a commendation than a review as the
rendition was spectacular, leaving really no room for suggestions,
more just thanks for something so easy to listen to. We had a survey
shared earlier today on the feedback thread, asking what everyone
has been working on lately, hopefully everyone has had the chance
to share so we can start crafting new content ideas while I continue
to heal.

It has been a rough stretch recently with losing so many great artists.
I talked a bit about Pete Huttlinger and some of the great things he
brought into our world. I hope everybody has seen Muriel Anderson
play his arrangement of Stevie Wonder's Superstition.

Speaking of Muriel, she was in Northern California last weekend and
we spent a little time with her and Bryan Allen. They are out on tour
debuting their Audio/Visual show Wonderlust. Bryan has created great
videoscapes that play behind Muriel as she plays a set of mostly new
pieces. We were even treated to a short mini concert of Eleanor Rigby
played on her 20-string harp guitar right in the middle of a football
playoff game last Saturday night. Be sure to catch their performance
if it comes into your neck of the woods.

Other than that, almost mended and able to get back to work. I know
I've said that before but this time it's really true, or at least closer to
true than the last three times I promised...

Neil

Thank you Neil for the compliment on "Song For The Asking", I really appreciate your comments. Moreover, I went back and reviewed your tab on "Sweet Baby James". I never realized I have been playing it wrong for all these years. Your progression makes it sound so much better. Old dogs can learn new tricks :) .
