December 31, 2022

So it is New Year's Eve and dark and storming here in Northern California (please excuse the mood lighting). This week I started revisiting some of Dan Hicks catchy swing tunes, which will probably be some of the upcoming lessons. It also gave me a chance to talk about an unusual scale to solo over one of the progressions in a song of his.

I started the Update with a little bit of a tune I have been working on for longer than I should admit, and it is getting close enough for me to think about putting more time in on. It is Bethena by Scott Joplin. Another 20 years and I should have it!

I am excited about the changes at TG in 2022 and really looking forward to fixing a few glitches now that wheels are turning in that direction.

I hope you enjoy a re-harmonized look at a classic Holiday tune. I ended the video with Auld Lang Syne and Black Orpheus, although a mystery tune from TV Land snuck in at the end.

Happy New Year,

Neil
