On The Beat - Episode 795 - Weekly Guitar Video News Wrap Up February 21, 2025
February 21, 2025
This week I spent a little too much time down a rabbit hole that started with British One-Hit Wonders, well, really just one of them led off. Their hit was what I messed with at the opening of this Update. That took me into a bit of genealogy from the Small Faces, to the Faces, a Jeff Beck reference, ending with high school memories and playing Stone Cold Fever. I hope you can follow the path and stay on task...
The News and Instruction items this week include our upcoming resurrection of the 3-Minute 30-Day Challenge (starting March 1), along with a short thought about chord numbers being used to transpose songs.
Tunes that somehow leaked out of my guitar included Itchycoo Park, Rainbow Connection, Reason To Believe and an original that is about 20 years old–Idylwild. The closing piece has lyrics floating around here somewhere by Al Stewart.
I hope you enjoy the ride...

Neil, you're scaring me, man! The Rainbow Connection lessons went up over four years ago, and I started working on it just last Saturday. I appreciate the tip on chord numbers to help iron out the key change. Very timely.
I don't know if Peter Frampton ever got all the recognition he earned. I know he has serious health issues; I wish him the best. I also picked up a couple bars of Green Eyed Lady by Sugarloaf in there, and the Idlewild piece reminds a little of Tommy Emmanual's "Those Who Wait". Love that chord progression. I may look into that piece later.
I await the details of the upcoming challenge. I still play a bunch nearly every day, and loving every minute.
