On The Beat - Episode 812 - Weekly Guitar Video News Wrap Up July 11, 2025

Recently I have been having a good time revisiting songs by Elton John, partially inspired by a couple students working on old songs of his (i.e. ones that came out when I was in high school). Today's Update started with some improvising on Love Song, written by Leslie Duncan and appearing on Elton's Tumbleweed Connection album. I mused through a few other pieces of his throughout the video, including Your Song, Bennie And The Jets, Rocket Man, Daniel and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.
Bennie and Rocket Man were recent additions to the TG Lesson Library, along with Promise Me by Beverly Craven and Roy Orbison's Only The Lonely (Know The Way I Feel).
On the tip front this week I had a couple students who were having trouble with some chord changes and I realized it had been a very long time since I suggested some finger independence exercises to them, and possibly never to the TG Community. I would love to get some feedback on the drills I suggested for them, and anybody watching this.
