A little Grateful Dead, some Neil Young and a few classic riffs were on my mind today, but the main thing I wanted to get to was a few thoughts on practicing, particularly with a metronome. At the top I went into some of last week’s TG Live where we went into things to consider when Creating Chord Solos, and a difference between fingerpicking arrangements and flatpicking ones. The replay is available as a lesson here now.
The rest of today’s Update was spent with a metronome and tips on getting comfortable using one. Chances are some of you may have given it a try and thrown it away. You can become proficient using one and it is worth the effort. Another suggestion is to practice with the original recording of whatever you are working on. There were a few suggestions on exercises to improve the relationship between you and your metronome.
